Master of Science Programmes

53 Nationalities in EDHEC's International Masters

an international campus

On October 2nd 2007, EDHEC Business School welcomed 196 MSc students from 53 different nationalities on its campus in Nice. With the MBA intake of 32 students and 19 nationalities in September, EDHEC secures its reputation as an international campus.

"We have nationals from all over the world who have professional experience in all sorts of fields. I'm confident that I will have a great year ahead that will prove to be a rich professional and personal experience."

From Luxembourg to the Lebanon, Pakistan to Peru, Taiwan to Turkey, Ecuador to Ethiopia, this year's MSc group ranges  from 20-41 years old, with an average age of 26 and two years of professional experience. This diversity forms the perfect recipe for rich discussions, both in and out of the classroom.

Emmanuel Métais, Dean of International Postgraduate Programmes and MBA Director, gave a warm welcome to the students on their first day, briefly outlining the highlights of the school and introducing them to their programmes managers:

The MSc Programme Managers then ran through their programme curriculum with their new course participants in small groups, expanding on the various specialised workshops for each programme and mentioning the various job openings their courses could lead to, including some impressive recruitment statistics. A short tour of the campus followed, including EDHEC's virtual trading floor, the e-learning classroom (the first in France which was inaugurated at the beginning of the year) and more practical services such as the library and the International Office which looks after the international students and provides housing and administrative help.

An international buffet with specialities from around the world rounded off the first morning offering time for informal discussion and a closer contact with fellow classmates and professors and also allowed students to meet the EDHEC admissions team that had helped them throughout their admission process.

Theseus-EDHEC MBA intake

The Theseus-EDHEC MBA programme 2007/08 also opened its doors recently. With students representing 19 different nationalities, the MBA is the most international of EDHEC's wide range of English-taught programmes and this year's class proves to be one of the most diverse ever.

China, India, Japan, United Arab Emirates, USA, Sweden,Denmark, Finland, South Korea, Germany, Jamaica, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Peru, Romania, South Africa and Ethiopia are just some of the nationalities figuring in the class this year. With backgrounds ranging from Engineering to Law, Finance to Tourism, an average age of 32 and average professional experience 8 years, group discussions are set to be a rich learning experience.

For many MBA participants, it was the first time back into a classroom for several years, but with the exciting first schedule in the New Visions - New Ambitions module, the students are keen to get their teeth into new knowledge.... This module includes outward bound activities, a brush up of negotiation and presentation skills, discussions on critical thinking, decision making, and business complexity and strategy and is one which invites the participants to step outside the world of business and really consider their personal plans.

Ashwini Herur from India gave her first impressions on her first few days in the MBA programme.

"Any apprehensions I had about going to France and returning to studies were short lived. The introductory session to the programme immediately made me feel comfortable with the faculty and other participants and gave me a glimpse on the challenges I would  face during the year. The welcome session gave me an opportunity to know and understand my fellow colleagues and I was particularly happy to see such an international student mix and their diverse background. We have nationals from all over the world who have professional experience in all sorts of fields. I'm confident that I will have a great year ahead that will prove to be a rich professional and personal experience."
