Master of Science in Risk and Asset Management

43 000 company Contacts Informed About EDHEC's Finance Students

NIKKI HARLE June 15, 2006

An employment brochure to bring recruiters and EDHEC students closer together was the ingenious brainwave of Professor Daphne Sfeir, Director of the MSc in Finance and MSc in Asset Management programmes

This innovation sparked from her belief that a top business school should back its students both throughout their studies and into their career, especially through the difficult first steps of an international professional experience.

The brochure was sent to more than 43.000 contacts of the EDHEC Risk and Asset Management Research centre, including leading executives and companies in the field of Finance and Asset Management who appreciate the high quality associated with these programmes and who wish to know more about the abilities and potential of the school's students.

In brief, the brochure is a real marketing-tool for the students in their job-hunt in that it facilitates the first contact with the company. It highlights EDHEC Business School's excellence and describes the qualities of the students, their specializations and the general characteristics of the programmes. It also explains how the expertise and the advanced research of EDHEC's professors help MSc students perfect their academic knowledge and apply it to real-life situations. It is then up to each individual student to make a difference when the time comes for an interview.

The reaction of the business world is already extremely positive. Replies arrive every day from all over the world (Europe, US, Australia and Asia) and often include job or internship offers for the students.

Just one example of how students benefit from this brochure is Hanyu Wang a Chinese student of the MSc in Risk and Asset Management programme who was offered internships in Dexia Asset Management in Brussels and PayPal (Ebay, Paris). He says that without it, he would almost certainly not have found out about these internships. He adds that it is almost as if the school is marketing its students to recruiters and that this is particularly helpful for international students who sometimes find it difficult to get information on the jobs that are available in Europe.
