Companies such as Alcan, Fidelity International , Inbev, Inno, Promod and Redcats were present to share their valuable inside information and allow a first contact. Six companies had jobs and internships posted, ranging form Buyer to Business Developer and held informal first interviews after which the short-listed candidates will be invited for a formal onsite interview.
The fair was a privileged opportunity for MBA and MSc Students to meet recruiters from a variety of industry sectors including IT, Consumer Goods, Banking, Services and Retail and was above all a networking event where students were able to make a personal contact with recruiters.
Some of the companies represented had EDHEC graduates as permanent members of staff who enthusiastically described the hiring process and career evolution and whose anecdotes of professional life were of particular interest to the EDHEC students. Fabien Ize, who graduated from EDHEC one year ago and who is now in the European Rotation Programme at Fidelity International described his experience to the interested students. "I'm currently enrolled in a 3 year rotation programme. I will be spending one year within Sales and one within Marketing with the idea that I'll be moving between jobs and countries. We have offices across Europe including Sweden, UK, Paris, Madrid and even India. After that I hope to be taken on in a position of higher responsibility within Fidelity. The interview process was quite long but it was worth it. EDHEC helped my success through all the team work we did and our class activities as well as teaching me how to work with people coming from various countries and backgrounds. This notably helped for the group exercise in my interview. My role as president of the Student's Association also taught me a lot about communicating with people. All this and the fact that EDHEC has such an international outlook and encourages intercultural exchanges must have greatly contributed in giving me a profile that interested Fidelity."
MSc in European Business participant, Julie Berquez was able to take full advantage
of this international event. After having talked with various companies about repositioning herself, her profile attracted the attention of the HR officer from Amadeus, a company providing technology solutions for the travel industry. After conducting an interview in both French and English the HR officer felt that Julie's previous experience in the publishing industry would prove beneficial in the role of a Marketing Communications Specialist and she has since been invited to Amadeus for an onsite interview.
Thanks to another recent initiative of the EDHEC Student Careers Centre, recruiters now have direct access to students CVs via EDHEC's CV Book, another measure aimed at facilitating students' transition to professional life. This is a welcome tool which arrives just in time for the annual EDHEC Job Forum in Paris on 12th January 2007.
