Following the EDHEC Job Forum in Paris in January, last week's EDHEC International Recruitment Fair in Nice allowed students to meet with international organisations and key recruiters across a variety of industry sectors including FMCG, Banks, Services and Retail.
To cope with increased demand, the International Recruitment Fair 2008 took place in the Business Centre of Nice's International Airport, just minutes from the EDHEC campus. EDHEC's Careers Centre had selected 25 European and International companies, all of which had internships and permanent
positions on offer and all of particular interest to EDHEC students seeking an international career.
This event was the ideal opportunity for MSc and MBA students to meet with recruiters across a variety of industry sectors. Significant well established international companies were present including Amadeus, Procter and Gamble, Fortis group, Société Générale, Mazars group, Johnson and Johnson, Wolseley and Shell.
Recruiters came seeking internationally-focused candidates for a wide variety of positions in Marketing, Finance, strategy and consulting. Most of them had already viewed the online EDHEC student CV Book in advance and had published offers on EDHEC's online resource platform, making the event as efficient as possible.
Michael Lucas, MSc candidate participated in the event:
" I was the go-between for a participating company (Wolseley) and EDHEC. Being an ambassador like this was a really good way to experience the job forum. I had a great contact with the team from this company right from the start. I got to know about the company, the job offers and the graduate trainee programme. I had the opportunity to prove myself by actually doing something more than just presenting myself and during lunch-time I had a relaxed conversation about the company, how to apply and I could even promote myself and the School some more.
There was plenty of time to walk around, meet important people, talk to all the companies and get the information needed to apply successfully. They were looking for the right candidate profiles among the MSc and MBA students and there will no doubt be several students who receive job offers in the following weeks. A few companies were so interested in my profile that they asked me to do a video-interview which they will send to their HR department as a reference on top of my CV.
Overall, the job forum was a great networking experience and hopefully it is going to be successful for us all as well."
Elke Thamm, Wolseley, Graduate Programme Assistant Manager
"Wolseley is the world's largest supplier of plumbing and heating products and a leading supplier of building materials to the professional market. We are an international company, and people are our strength. We are seeking people with a varied experience and an intercultural mindset on the local, European and global level who will help us drive our business forward. The EDHEC international recruitment fair provided us the opportunity to meet candidates with the profile we are seeking. I appreciated the professional yet personal organisation of the event; it was really helpful to have a personal ambassador who took care of us throughout the day. We especially appreciated the possibility of the candidate's video presentation and are looking forward to watching them. Overall, I thought this was a good event and we look forward to attending in the future."
Last year EDHEC's Career Centre organised 88 recruitment events and posted 14000 internship offers and 17000 job offers, 20% of which were outside France.
