Undergraduate institution: Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand

Currently working as EMEA Marketing Leader with Cummins Generator Technologies, UK

In 2001 I graduated from Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand, where I did my bachelors degree in Economics, with a major in marketing. During my last year I have carried out three internships, of which the main one was a 6-month economic analyst internship in the AIDS organisation of the UN. After my graduation, I started working as a marketing assistant to the commercial director of the well-known Thai company, Jim Thompson, which makes products and souvenirs from silk. My role in Jim Thompson was to take care of the distribution systems and analyse the profit of our best selling products. I also undertook the development of T-Shirts, Polo Shirts, and Neck Tie product groups starting from production to the distribution to the end users.

After almost two years of working, I realised that in order to climb the career ladder in the marketing field, I needed to gain more knowledge in marketing subjects. I decided to look into universities in Europe because of the high quality education and also for the good opportunities to travel. I chose France because I wanted to experience something different compared to other students who choose to study in the UK or the US. EDHEC Business School is ranked as one of the top-five business schools in France, and I am convinced that it is comparable to top-rank business schools in the UK or the US. Seeing that EDHEC Business School also stresses practical training and pays a lot of attention to business situations that students will face in reality, I decided that EDHEC Business School was the best choice to do an MSc degree in Marketing.

My EDHEC experience is one that I would not have wanted to miss out on. I found inspiration from my group mates who shared their experiences in teamwork. All the different skills and knowledge of people from various cultural backgrounds have brought me many new ideas. The course set up was very different than in Thailand, with all the group work, case studies and presentations. Presenting my work forced me to stand up in front of the class and has helped to build my self-confidence. I see EDHEC Business School as a place where you can find pure knowledge both in theory and in practice, a place where you will get full support from experienced professors, and a place where you can find true friendship.

EDHEC Business School motivates students to believe in the potential that they have. It has taught me to believe in myself and in my ability to work in an international environment, and it has convinced me that there is nowhere in the world you cannot be if you have the same ability as others. In addition, the EDHEC graduates that are currently working in leading companies who shared their experiences through alumni meetings or as guest speakers in conferences have motivated me to think that if they can go this far, then so can I !!

By its compulsory internship at the end of the MSc programme, EDHEC has motivated me to find a job in Europe.  I decided to apply for a job in the UK, which required me to write an essay on Industrial Distribution Strategies. With the guidance of one of the marketing professors specialized in industrial marketing I landed the job, and worked for the Newage AVKSEG, an engineering company in the United Kingdom. My main role was project coordinator for the Belgium market. It included customer involvement, sales, forecast analysis and planning for the equipment to be built. This job gaves me the opportunity to develop further into the marketing field.  I had high expectations for my future career, and this was mainly due to my studies at EDHEC!

Today I am permanent employee with the title of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Marketing Leader in Newage AVKSEG which has now changed its name to Cummins Generator Technologies, part of Cummins group.).

I believe success is being able to achieve your dreams and challenges, and this is exactly what EDHEC has taught me!
